Govt to evacuate injured Chipolopolo player to South Africa

Government is making arrangements to evacuate Under-17 national soccer team player Changwe Kalale who was involved in a road accident over the weekend to South Africa for specialized treatment.

Sports Minister Chishimba Kambwili disclosed this when he visited the injured player who is admitted to the University Teaching Hospital this morning.Zesco-bus

Mr Kambwili says he held discussions this morning with Acting President Dr Guy Scott to discuss logistics of evacuating the player to South Africa as soon as the doctors give a go ahead to move him.

Mr Kambwili has assured the player’s parents that government will do everything possible to help him considering that he got injured while on national duty.

Before leaving UTH Mr Kambwili led in singing a happy birthday song to Kalale who is celebrating his birthday today.

Earlier the Minister visited Nyambe Mulenga the national soccer team central defender who is admitted to Lusaka Trust Hospital.

The two together with another national team call up Green Eagles’ Sachimo Chakawa were travelling to Lusaka to join the national team camp when a ZESCO United minibus they were in collided with an oncoming Toyota Prado on the Great North Road near Kabwe on Sunday.
