Kambwili,Kasolo sue ZNBC

KAMBWILI-OFFICESports Minister Chishimba Kambwili and Patriotic Front deputy Secretary General Anthony Kasolo together with Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Chanda Kasolo have sued ZNBC and its board of Directors Chairperson John Mulwilla for libel.

This follows allegations made by ZNBC Board Chairperson Dr John Mulwila that the trio tried to interfere with the selection of news content for the public broadcaster when they stormed the newsroom and ordered the removal of certain stories from the news line up.

According to the writ of summons filed in the Lusaka High Court Registry dated 27th November obtained by QFM, the trio through their lawyers Sambo Kayukwa Advocates are claiming damages for libel.

They complain that the defendants unlawfully, negligently, deliberately and without regard for personal dignity, reputation and integrity of the plaintiff and without verification of the truth or falsity caused to broadcast the said libelous material complained about.

They are also seeking an injunction to restrain the defendants whether by themselves or their agents or any other persons from uttering or making any further statements relating to the issue complained about.
They are also claiming other relief as maybe deemed fit by the court.
