ECZ called upon to sustain continious voter registration

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has been called upon to ensure there is continuous voter registration in the country.

Center for Elections and Governance (CEG) Trustee Emmanuel Kayembe says ECZ should not wait for by-elections for them to conduct voter registration.

Mr. Kayembe has told QFM News that it is unacceptable for the ECZ to state that they will not register any new voters ahead of the forthcoming presidential by-election.

He notes that a lot of young people have attained the voting age but will not vote because the ECZ will not register any new voters.

Mr Kayembe says it is for this reason that the Electoral Commission of Zambia should consider intensifying voter registration in order to capture new voters.
