Nkana bow with six goal fest

Outgoing Zambia champions Nkana ended the 2014 season with a bang on Sunday after a 6-0 away win over National Assembly.

The win did little at all to change Nkana’s status on the table as they stayed put in fourth place to finish on 52 points, seven points behind newly crowned champions Zesco United.

Nkana took a 1-0 lead into the break at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka through striker FestusDerrick_Mwansa_of_Nkana Mbewe who headed-in the ball in the 41st minute.

Reynold Kampamba tapped in Simon Bwalya’s goal-bound shot in the 48th minute before defender Derrick Mwansa headed-in goal number three in the 57th minute.

Midfielder Francis Simwanza then blasted in a left-footed volley from the edge of the box in the 67th minute.

Shadreck Musonda made it 5-0 with a thundering left-footed drive of his own from range and Lottie Nyimbili completed the rout in the 85th minute.

Despite the emphatic defeat, promoted Assembly, who survived relegation on the penultimate day of the season, finished 9th on 37 points.

Meanwhile, Nkana’s victory warmed them up for this Saturday’s Barclays Cup final clash against Zesco United at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
