Lifwekelo confirms UPND, MMD alliance

LIFWEKELOThe opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has confirmed that it has been approached by the MMD for a possible alliance ahead of the forthcoming presidential by-election.

UPND Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo has told QFM News in a telephone interview that what is pleasing is that most MMD Members of Parliament are endorsing that UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema stands on the alliance ticket.

Mr. Lifwekelo has revealed that MMD MPs met at parliament this morning and signed a communiqué endorsing Mr. Hichilema as the sole candidate of the alliance if the two parties enter into an alliance.

Mr. Lifwekelo says his party is open to individuals and parties that feel and believe that they can make a difference to the governance system of the country.

He says there is need for the opposition to be organized and united and ensure they unseat the PF.
