K128 million released towards elections

The Ministry of Finance has released K128 million to the Electoral Commission of Zambia to go towards preparations for the Presidential election to be held on 20th January,2014.

Acting Secretary to the Treasury Pamela Kabamba in a statement made available to QFM News by ministry of Finance public relations officer Chileshe Kandeta says the estimate of requirements submitted by the ECZ to the Treasury is K344 Million.

Mrs Kabamba has assured the nation that treasury will provide resources to the ECZ as and when required so that there are no unnecessary financial glitches in preparing for the election.

She has further reassured the nation that the Treasury is on high alert and has continued to keep vigil on economic fundamentals to ensure that any stress arising from internal shocks and external shocks in the international economic system is monitored and handled effectively.
