Janza pays tribute to Cape Verde

HonorZambia coach Honour Janza has disclosed that Cape Verde had given them sleepless nights in the just ended 2015 Africa Cup qualifiers.

Chipolopolo beat The Blue Sharks 1-0 on Wednesday at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola in a formality Group F match after both sides secured qualification heading into the mid-week fixture.

Wednesday’s victory saw Zambia avenge their 2-1 Group F qualifying loss they suffered on match-day-two on September 10 away in Praia.

“I have respect for Cape Verde. I think in our group they are a team that gave us a lot of homework on the pitch and they are a good side,” Janza said.

“I want to congratulate my fellow coach from Cape Verde and I hope we won’t be in the same group at the Africa Cup.”

Cape Verde handed Zambia their only Group F loss in September but the latter went on to finish ahead of the former despite losing two games in the qualifiers.

The Blue Sharks finished top of the Group F qualifiers on 12 points, one point ahead of Zambia.

Meanwhile, Zambia have lost just once from eight games under Janza following his appointment in August when he replaced Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle after he left to take the Cote d’Ivoire deputy coaching job under his mentor Herve Renard.
