Could Eminem Retire? The Rapper Addresses The Question On ‘Psychopath Killer’

Eminem may not be in quite the same position culturally as he was in the early 2000s — like in November 2002, when he was responsible for the #1 song, album and movie in the country — but he’s still a musical force. The man is a beast on the mic, employing double-time flows and elaborate metaphors non-stop.

But he’s also 42 years old, which is not only up there in age for pop stars, but rappers, too. So, is he thinking about hanging it up anytime soon?

“The thought of retiring/ Is makin’ me want to set your daughter on fire with a soldering iron,” he raps on “Psychopath Killer,” off the upcoming Shady XV.

Uhh — we’ll take that as a no.

Em goes on to squeeze mind-boggling wordplay and characteristically crazy raps into his minute-and-a-half verse on the song, which also features Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf. Royce da 5’9″ and Kxng Crooked also bring the lyrical chaos, as each delivers a verse packed with aggression and confidence.

Later in Em’s verse, he raps that he’s “ecstatic at all the static that I can still cause/ In the fabric of our modern society.” He’s certainly right about that. Earlier this week, a snippet of “Vegas,” another Shady XV song, hit the Net, which finds Marshall threatening Iggy Azalea, rapping, “Put that sh– away, Iggy/ You gon’ blow that rape whistle on me.”

On Thursday, the “Fancy” rapper responded, tweeting, “im bored of old men threatening young women as entertainment trend and much more interested in the young women getting $ trend.”
