ECZ sets nomination dates

The Electoral Commission of Zambia has set December 17th,18th and 19th as nomination dates for the January 20th Presidential election.

And the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has proposed to spend 344 million kwacha to conduct the January 20th Presidential election.

ECZ Spokesperson Cris Akufuna says the nomination fee has been pegged at K10,000.Akafuna-ECZ

Mr Akufuna says presidential candidates should lodge duly completed and attested statutory declaration of assets and liabilities, oath/affirmation of Zambian citizenship, declaration of compliance to Electoral Code of Conduct and nomination papers subscribed before the returning officer, who is also the Chief Justice on said dates between 09:00 and 17:00 hours at the Supreme Court.

He says in line with the election timetable issued by the Commission, aspiring candidates should advise the Commission of the time they wish to lodge their nomination papers.

Mr Akufuna says candidates should take along with them 200 supporters who must be registered voters.
He has also that the campaign period which officially commenced on 19th November will end at 18:00 hours on 19th January,2015.
