President Sata to be put to rest on Nov 11

The body of late Republican President Michael Sata is expected to arrive in the country on Saturday, 1th November at 10:00hrs at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

And the departed Head of State will be put to rest on Tuesday, 11th November, 2014 at Embassy Park the presidential burial site located opposite Cabinet Office.

Addressing journalists during a media briefing at Cabinet Office this afternoon, Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska says Acting President Guy Scott will lead government officials, family members, military personnel and other mourners in receiving the remains of President Sata.

Dr. Msiska states that immediately after the arrival ceremony at the Airport, a military escort will lead the funeral cortege to Mulungushi International Conference Center where the body will lie in state until Sunday.

Dr. Msiska says body viewing will commence on Sunday 2nd November, 2014 at Mulungushi International Conference Center and that all members of public are encouraged to pay their last respects to the late President.

And Dr. Msiska says the burial of the late President will be preceded by a Requiem Church Service at National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Monday, 10th November, 2014.

The Secretary to the Cabinet has also indicated that government has earmarked Belvedere Lodge in Lusaka as a funeral place for close relatives while other mourners are encouraged to assemble at the Show grounds where sermons would be conducted and solemn music played.

President Sata 77 died in London on Tuesday, 28th September where he had gone for medical treatment.
