Twenty three perish in Lake Kariba

About twenty three people including children in Gwembe are feared dead after the boat they were in collided with a banana boat yesterday in Lake Kariba.

Sources from Gwembe have told QFM News in a telephone interview that the people are believed to have been going to some nearby place to celebrate the 50 years Golden Jubilee.

The sources have furthermore disclosed that six children have survived the horror leaving the 23 swallowed by the lake.

And government has sent a team of divers to Gwembe to retrieve the twenty three bodies.

Office of the Vice President Deputy Minister Davies Mwango has told QFM News in an interview that the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has so far sent a team of divers to try and retrieve the bodies.

Mr. Mwango is hopeful that the divers will manage to retrieve all the twenty three bodies who are feared dead in Lake Kariba.
