Kalaba ignites Zambia to life

Zambia beat Niger 3-0 at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Wednesday to end their three match winless Group F drought.

The victory put Zambia firmly back on the road to Marrakech in the 2015 Africa Cup qualifiers after picking up just two points prior.

All three goals came in the second half after a first 45 minutes of missed opportunities that fell mostly to Emmanuel Mayuka in the 2nd, 15th and 45th minutes.

The deadlock was broken in the 58th minute Rainford Kalaba headed in from close range.

Mayuka then broke his two year goal drought after tapping in Chisamba Lungu’s cross in the 73rd minute.

Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene put the result beyond doubt in the 88th minute from the penalty spot after Given Singuluma was brought down in the box.

Zambia move up to five points from four games with two matches left to play on their comeback trail.
